Henry VIII, second coinage, 1526-1544, George Noble, 4.50g, m.m. rose both sides, double rose over cross on ship, dividing h r, saltire stops, henric d g r agl z franc dns hiberi, rev. tali dica sigo mes flvctvari neqvit, St. George on horseback, charging right, spearing dragon below, double saltire stops (cf. Schneider 576; S.2270), slightly crimped, weakness on rose and in places in reverse legend, bold head of St. George, a pleasing new example of this extremely rare and emotive coin, very fine Estimate £ 15,000-18,000 Same reverse dies at Samuel King example (Spink Auction 173, 5 May 2005, lot 29). Obverse with unusual Irish title.
