Great Britain Line Engraved 1840 One Penny Black Plate VI GK-GL, horizontal pair, touched or faulty at places, tied by black Maltese Cross cancellation on 1840 (30 Nov.) entire letter from Longueville House, Jersey to Birmingham, reverse with Jersey datestamp and "southampton ship letter" in black, Birmingham arrival (31/12); despite faults an interesting cover illustrating very early use of the black Maltese cross which was brought into general use in Feb. 1841.
