Great Britain Line Engraved 1840 One Penny Black Plate II BL, a greyish black shade with good to large margins all round, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation on 1840 (7 May) envelope to London, reverse with Brighton despatch c.d.s. and London arrival (8/5); some staining and a light horizontal bend at the top of the envelope slightly affects the adhesive.
