x Great Britain Line Engraved 1840 One Penny Black "May" Dates 6 May (Wednesday), entire from Islington to Lothbury bearing 1d. Plate Ia RG, cut into at left but with large margins other sides and showing portions of two adjoining stamps, tied by red Maltese Cross cancellation, clearly datelined "May 6/40" but with the despatch datestamp partly torn away and restored, the entire is creased and heavily soiled, nevertheless displaying quite well.
