Great Britain Postal History 1850 (12 April), envelope from Kelvedon bearing 1841 1d., ML, margins all round, tied by light numeral cancellation, addressed to a passenger "On board the Francis Ridley, Plymouth, Devon" and inscribed "In Haste" - the ship had already departed and the envelope was forwarded to Adelaide, Australia showing very fine "g.p.o./australia" arrival d.s. in blue and ink manuscript "6" adjacent; minor faults though in no way detracting. A most colourful and attractive exhibition quality cover. Stated to be the only known example of a single 1841 1d. used on cover to Australia. Photo Estimate £ 1,300-1,500
