x India Used Abroad Dutch East Indies 1822 (30 Sept.) entire letter ex the "de Haviland" correspondence to Madras, marked "Post Paid" and showing, on reverse, the only recorded example of the framed "sadras/post paid" (HG MX3) with arrival d.s. (1.10) alongside. Photo Estimate £ 1,200-1,500 Note: Sadras was a Dutch trading settlement 135 miles south of Madras which was in English possession between 1795 and 1818, and was returned to the East India Company in 1825.
