India 1897 (24 Oct.) Soldier´s and Seamen´s 1a. on 9p. envelope from a Private in the Cheshire Regiment at Trimulgherry to Pittsburg, U.S.A. and redirected to Fitchburg, Mass., countersigned by the Commanding Officer and showing U.S. Deficiency in Address h.s. in violet, other marks on reverse, and 1898 envelope from England, franked at 2 1/2d., to a soldier in the U.S. Army in Indian Territory but missent to India, after many attempts at delivery returned to England and then sent to Texas with a label attached which reads "This letter would appear to be intended for a soldier of the United States Army, as it is addressed as such and stamped", numerous datestamps on reverse; faults in places though a fascinating pair, full of character Estimate £ 100-120
