India 1866 (29 Aug.) envelope from Liverpool to "No 1412 Private Thos. Fazackerley No 8 Company H. Mtys 51 L I Jallundhur Punjumb East Indies or Elsewhere", bearing 1d. Plate 85 twice cancelled with "n/466/n" duplex; the envelope found to be overweight and showing boxed "deficient postage 11/british share of fine 3" h.s. and large manuscript "1/2", upon arrival the fine converted to Indian currency with "st bg/a-p/11-6" h.s. alongside manuscript "11-4" (11 annas and 4 pies), the reverse (flap missing) with various c.d.s., arriving at Jallunder on 17 October; the envelope and adhesive with some faults though unusual in being overweight and being forwarded without prepayment. Photo Estimate £ 250-300 Note: A soldier´´s letter was restricted to 1/2oz. in weight. If over this limit it was to be sent to the Returned Letter Office for full postage as an ordinary letter to be paid by the sender. If not prepaid the letter would not be sent. Liverpool post office has unusually allowed this letter to be sent without prepayment
