India 1835 (19 Aug.) entire letter "From Ge Godfrey Pve No. 713 H.M. 13th L Infty" at Agra to a fellow soldier at Kurnaul, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and showing, on reverse, what is believed to be the sole recorded example of the framed "agra/free" h.s. (HG3). Photo Estimate £ 250-300 Note: The cover is countersigned by Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Sale who became the hero of Jellalbad during the 1st. Afghan War. He was knighted and advanced to Major-General for his actions at the capture of Ghuzni in 1839. In 1841 he was taking his brigade back to India and had reached Jellalabad where he was besieged by the Afghans. He escaped in 1842 just as the army of retribution was reaching Jellalabad
