Aden 1883 (3 Apr.) Soldier´s and Seamen´s 9p. envelope from "Sowar Fitooji Aden Troop" at Aden cantonment to Bombay, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and cancelled with largely fine strikes of the "B" in bars h.s. and "aden cant", the reverse with Sea Post Office c.d.s. (3.4). The only known soldier´s cover from the Aden Troop. Photo Estimate £ 700-800 Note: The Aden Troop was officially formed on 1 January 1868 at Jacobabad, with the proviso that its employment would be solely in the immediate vicinity of the settlement. The troop consisted of 100 native sabres from the 1st. and 2nd. Regiments, Sind Horse and Poona Horse, with British Officers, and had 20 Arabs of the Abdali and Fadhli tribes attached as guides. It was based at Khormaksar, just outside the Aden walls
