Marconi´s Wireless Telegraph Co. Ltd., £1 shares, (1903), capital £200,000, overprinted £300,000, dark blue, tiny ink stain at bottom but GVF. Probably the best known and most important company involved in the development of wireless communication. Incorporated in 1897 by Guglielmo Marconi, the company became involved in the telegraph (sending the first wireless signal accross the Atlantic in 1901), radio and television. Cable & Wireless formed in 1929 to acquire the Marconi Company and the Eastern Telegraph Company. This and the following certificate are issued to the same shareholder and to our knowledge are the only ones to have become available to collectors. Estimate £ 250-350
