x Victoria 1850-59 Half-Lengths Printed by Messers. Campbell & Fergusson 3d. Ninth Printing - Stone D - S.G. 31, 31a, 31b, 31c, 31d 3d. deep blue vertical pair placed sideways and affixed over top edge of 1855 (13 July) envelope from Melbourne to Switzerland and also bearing 1854 "registered" 1/-, both tied by Barred Oval "1", showing manuscript "6" and red crayon "270", Liverpool Ship and London Paid transit datestamps, Calais entry c.d.s. at right (additionally tying the 1/-) with despatch, transit and arrival datestamps on reverse; the cover a little soiled and creased. A most unusual destination with the 3d. pair pre-paying the rate to UK. Around a dozen covers bearing Half-Lengths are recorded going to Switzerland. S.G. 31c. Photo Estimate £ 200-250
