Antonio Maria Erba, Marquis de Mondonico, Regent of the Supreme Council of Italy, cast bronze medal by Giuseppe Vismara, large bust of Erba left, wearing cap and fur-trimmed robes of office, rev. large eagle flying towards radiate sun, open landscape below, with a rustic village to left and twin-towered castle to right, 101mm. (Johnson no.61, fig.234), small neat hole at top, very fine with an attractive even brown patina, rare Estimate £ 200-300 Antonio Maria Erba (1642-94), came from a noble family who held various important public offices in Milan. Erba served as Jurisconsul and Regent of the Supreme Council of Italy from 1643. The twin-towered castle on the reverse is his personal emblem or impresa.
