Naval General Service 1793-1840, two clasps, 23rd June 1795, 12 Octr. 1798 (John Packman, Midshipman.), light scratches to obverse, edge bruise, therefore very fine Estimate £ 3,500-4,000 John Packman served as Able Seaman in H.M.S. Robust for the defeat of the French fleet and the capture of three ships-of-the-line by Admiral Bridport off the Isle de Groix, Britanny, 23.6.1795; he served on the books of the same ship as Midshipman for the capture of French 74 gun ship-of-the-line Hoche and three frigates by Commodore Sir John Borlase Warren´´s squadron off the north-west coast of Ireland, 12.10.1798.
