Canada General Service 1866-70, one clasp, Fenian Raid 1866 (3657 Dr J. McMahon, 47th Foot), extremely fine Estimate £ 240-280 3657 Sergeant John McMahon, enlisted a Private 47th Foot, Limerick, Ireland, 1855; Drummer 1857; during his time in Canada (1861-69) he acquired a local bride; transferred to the 81st Regiment of Foot 1874; served during the third Afghanistan Campaign and was wounded, 29.11.1878, whilst in command of a convoy which was attacked by the enemy (service papers refer); discharged 1880 and resided to Preston, Lancashire.
