Smith, born Maidenhead, Berkshire, September 1827; enlisted in the Royal Navy and served in H.M.S. Archer, September 1850 to December 1852; joined H.M.S. Amphion, January 1853; served during the Baltic Campaign, 1854-55; died following a fall from the rig, 29.4.1856.
