A Great War Group of Three to Drummer T. Hill, Worcestershire Regiment, Killed in Action, 29.10.1914 1914 Star, with Bar (13207 Dmr: T. Hill. 3/Worc:R.); British War and Victory Medals (13207 Pte. T. Hill. Worc.R.), extremely fine, with Great War Bronze Memorial Plaque, ´Thomas Hill´, this with enclosure slip and in card box of issue, the BWM and VM with card box of issue Estimate £ 240-280 13207 Drummer Thomas Hill, born Malvern, Worcestershire; served during the Great War with the 3rd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment on the Western Front from 12.8.1914; he was killed in action 29.10.1914; in late October the battalion were involved in heavy fighting at La Quinque Rue (1st Battle of Ypres), the 3rd Battalion´´s War Diary entry for the 29th gives the following, ´´La Quinque Rue. Heavy shell fire from about 3am causing some damage to "A" Coy´´s number followed by infantry attack more directed at the Manchester´´s rear than the Worcester´´s trenches.... firing all day long along the line´´; the battalion suffered 41 other ranks killed and 15 wounded in the attack; Hill is commemorated on Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
