F.J. Pratt. R.E.); Defence Medal; Army Long Service & G.C., G.V.R. (2316 C.S.Mjr. F.J. Pratt. R.E.); Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R. (2316 C.S.Mjr: F.J. Pratt. R.E.), first two medals slightly worn, therefore nearly very fine, otherwise very fine or better, mounted court style for display, with the following contemporary documentation: - Warrant appointing Frederick Joseph Pratt, as Warrant Officer Class II, Royal Engineers - Two Mentioned in Despatches Certificates, dated 9.4.1917 and 16.3.1919; Four photographs of recipient, Three in uniform, illustrating his service during the Boer War and in the Home Guard during the Second World War (lot) Estimate £ 380-420 M.S.M. London Gazette 1.1.1918 Company Sergeant Major F.J. Pratt, R.E. ´´In recognition of valuable services rendered with the Armies in the Field during the present war.´´ 2316 Company Sergeant Major Frederick Joseph Pratt, M.S.M., born in Ipswich, 1881; after service in South Africa during the Boer War, he went on to serve during the Great War as Company Sergeant Major with the 4th Signal Company Royal Engineers on the Western Front from 22.8.1914 (twice Mentioned in Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig´´s Despatches, 9.4.1917 and 16.3.1919); fully living up to the name of "Old Contemptible", Pratt went on to serve in his third war, this time as part of the Home Guard during the Second World War.
