Great Britain Postal History Prison Mail 1846 (14 April) entire letter from York to Sheffield, bearing 1841 1d., unplated, IJ, just touched to good margins, tied by "930" numeral, with interesting content from John Holmes appealing to Mr Carlisle protesting his innocence that things should have not gone this far between them and maybe they could still work the debt out over the the unpaid bills. Mr Holmes goes on say that we feels sorry at being sent away from his distressed wife and five children and that he cannot settle matters being stuck here injurying his health, etc; also 1877 (24 July) entire bearing 1858-79 1d. with printed Leeds Borough Gaol printed rules circular.
