                        Edward III fourth coinage, pre-treaty period, 1351-1361, Groat, 4.13g, London, abnormal series E, with lis on breast, m.m.cross 2, lis on all cusps except over crown, broken c and e on obverse, rev. unbarred ns, pellets struck over crown in second quarter (Lawrence cf. 80/7; N.-; S.-), mark to left of bust, fine and a very rare variety   Estimate £   200-250     This would appear to be another example, struck from the same dies, of this extremely  rare variety, as previously sold in Lockett (1298 part), Doubleday (438) and SNC June 2002 (HS1084). This variety is sometimes referred to as an E/G mule, but Potter´´s listing as an abnormal Series E is preferred here.
