North Italian, possibly Paduan School (late 15th century) Virgin and Child, rectangular bronze plaquette, 69.5mm. x 35mm. at base, 33.5mm. at top, high relief, brown patina, pierced at top, two areas of solder on the reverse The Virgin is seated on a high backed throne with large volutes at the sides. She holds the child up so that their faces almost touch. We do not know of another example of this plaquette. It is in high relief, and is possibly Paduan, late 15th century. Estimate £ 300-500
