Moderno (late 15th century) Hercules and the Cattle of Geryon, rectangular bronze plaquette, 70mm. x 52.5mm., a good old cast, light brown patina, pierced at top, faint trace of number on the reverse Hercules, naked, strides to the right, and grasps two beasts by the horns as they emerge from their stables at left and right. In the background above the ruined wall of the building is the legend O. MODERNI This and the following plaquette belong to yet another series depicting the Labours of Hercules. It occurs signed and unsigned, also in circular form and with a border of palms.
