Lysippus the Younger (c.1471-1484) Giovanni Alvise Toscani, bronze medal, 73mm., a good contemporary cast, brown patina, pierced at 12 o´clock Obverse: bust in profile to left, wearing round cap, IOHANNES ALOISIVS TVSCANVS ADVOCATVS Reverse: PREVENIT AETATEM INGENIVM PRECOX in four lines in a wreath Giovanni Alvise Toscani (c.1450-1478), jurist, orator, and poet, was a protégé of Francesco Sforza. He showed great promise at a very young age and went to Rome in 1468 where he was appointed consistorial advocate in 1473, his title on this medal, and auditor general in 1477.
