x Perak 1876 (Feb.) envelope addressed to Capt. Holmes near Bath, marked "Laroot Field Force" and signed at lower left "B.F. Holmes Sub Lt., The Buffs", bearing Straits Settlements 1867-72 6c. dull lilac (3, one damaged prior to use) and 12c.blue making up the 30c. rate to England via Brindisi, all tied by oval of squares, showing Penang c.d.s. in red (10.2) with arrival d.s. (22.3) on reverse; some minor foxing in places. The earliest recorded cover from Perak, and a major exhibition item.
