China 1885-88 Small Dragons 1888 (6 July) opened-out commercial envelope to New York bearing, on the reverse, 1ca. green and 5ca. olive-yellow tied by blue crayon stroke with "customs/tientsin" despatch c.d.s. along with company cachet in blue; sent via the Japanese Post Office with pair of 5s. Koban tied by cork cancellation with "ijpa/shanghai" c.d.s. with Yokohama transit alongside. Major Richard Pratt collection.
