China Postal History Customs Mail Matter ningpo: 1897 (12 July) envelope registered to U.S.A. bearing a good strike of "ningpo customs/mail matter" in black with Ningpo Dollar chop alongside, partly covered by Japan 5s. (one removed to show handstamp) and 10s. tied by Shanghai I.J.P.O. c.d.s. with the Japanese registered label at left; the reverse with "customs/ningpo" c.d.s., Shanghai Dollar chop, Yokohama and San Francisco transit c.d.s.; soiled and creased around edges; scarce and attractive.
