Great Britain Line-Engraved Issues 1840 One Penny Black Plate 1a IK, showing traces of plate wear, small to very large margins, on neat, clean entire letter from Leith to Dunfermline, tied by two fine, light strikes of the orange-red Maltese Cross, the reverse with Leith (blue) and Edinburgh (red) circular datestamps of 21 May 1840; an extremely attractive and rare combination of coloured cancellation, contrary to regulations use and May date.
