Great Britain Other Illustrated Envelopes 1906 (22 Aug.) a beautifully executed handpainted vignette scene of a high-masted sailing ship at sea - the sails, cloud and sea details are in Chinese white or gouache and delicately overpainted with a variety of different watercolour inks to create a strikingly realistic depiction of the motion of a vessel at sea (which is notoriously difficult even for the accomplished artist), addressed to Miss S. Mason at Bratoft (Lincs.) bearing K.E.VII 1d. tied by Bramley duplex cancellation; a stunning exhibition item. Photo Estimate £ 350-400
