Auction: 7044 - GB Stamps & Postal History
Lot: 1031
Great Britain Postal History 1862 (25 Oct.) entire to Sourabaya, Java bearing 1d. and 2d. ´stars´ and 1855-57 1/- tied by superb strikes of the Scottish "309" numeral cancellation of Stonehaven - each of the three strikes is angled differently and would have required the postal clerk to consciously change the position of the canceller each time; ink manuscript rate charge at left with slight ink/paper deterioration and strengthened on reverse; fine and very attractive. A most unusual combination of franking and destination. Photo
