British Guiana Issued Stamps 1889 Keyplates, 12c. essay in a design similar to that issued, handpainted in lilac and green with value tablet and some lettering, etc. in Chinese white, and showing the companion "revenue" and "$4.80" tablets handpainted in green alongside, executed on brown tracing paper (66x85mm.) lettered "A" and dated ""sep. 14. 88". Photo Estimate £ 2,000-2,500 Note: This essay was submitted together with another lettered "B", blank without duty. Neither of these were approved and a further essay in the style of the 1876 issue design, lettered "C" and offered in the following lot, was submitted in November 1888. It was realised that the essay lettered "C" was not practical and therefore the colony reverted to the original submission lettered "A".
