British Guiana Early letters and Handstamps Demerara 1847 (18 Sept.) entire letter to Scotland and (19 Oct.) entire letter to Liverpool each showing, on reverse, small Demerara double-arc d.s. (Townsend Type 9) in black with unrecorded code "0" sideways, the first a little stained, and 1851 (27 Aug.) entire letter to Madeira, prepaid to London at "1/-" though not sufficiently prepaid to destination and showing, on reverse, framed "Returned/for Postage" h.s. in red alongside small Demerara double-arc d.s., sent back to Georgetown and finally sent back across the Atlantic for the third time, correctly paid Estimate £ 150-200
