Victoria 1861 (24 May) entire letter from Ballarat to England, marked "Per overland mail via Marseilles", bearing Beaded Oval 4d. (2) and Netted Corners 1d. each cancelled by "5" barred numeral, showing red handstruck "M" and, on reverse, despatch, Geelong and arrival c.d.s., one 4d. crossed by light filing fold and the 1d. with corner crease, and 1861 (22 Aug.) envelope from Violet Town to Norwich, bearing Beaded Oval 4d. (damaged prior to used) and Netted Corners 1d. pair (damaged) tied by poor "243" barred numeral and showing, on reverse, manuscript "Violet Town, Augt 22-1861".
