New Zealand Maritime Mail 1899 (12 June) envelope to Victoria, British Columbia, marked "Late fee paid SS ´Mariposa´" and bearing New South Wales 5d. cancelled with large part boxed "packet-boat" alongside "n-z/marine p.o." c.d.s., arrival c.d.s. (3.7) on reverse; the envelope with small sellotape stains at top and foot, and some faults on reverse though an unusual franking including the Late Fee, and 1900 (14 May) printed company´s envelope to Chicago, bearing New South Wales 1d. rose (5) cancelled "1" in oval of bars and showing "n.z. marine p.o./r.m.s. ´mariposa´" c.d.s. in bluish green and a light strike of the framed "packet-boat.", the reverse with San Francisco (1.6) and Chicago (5.6) d.s.; the envelope with a few pinholes clear of the adhesives though an attractive commercial double rate franking
