Pidgeon, bust (after P.Rouw) right, matthaevs boulton, rev. inventas avt qvi vitam excolvere per artis in four lines; edge inscribed patris amicis m.r.b. and date (BHM.976), toned, light spot behind bust, otherwise almost as struck, rare with the edge inscription Estimate £ 250-350 This medal was issued by Boulton´s son and successor, Matthew Robinson Boulton (´MRB´), who added a dedicatory inscription on the rim to some examples. "These are very much rarer than those specimens with a plain edge" (BHM).
