Russia, Soviet Union, Medal for Valour, 1st type, with screwback red riband suspension, 37mm, silver, reverse officially numbered ´58267´, very fine Russia, Soviet Union, Medal for Valour, 2nd type, with riband suspension, 37mm, silver, reverse officially numbered ´1946770´, good very fine, with copied service papers confirming the numbered award (2) Estimate £ 50-70 Senior Sergeant Victor Andreevich Berdugin, born Russia, 1904; served on the North-Western Front, February- July 1943; the Western Front, July- October 1943; and the Baltic Front from October 1943; lightly wounded; awarded the Medal for Bravery (No. 1946770), 20.11.1944. Senior Sergeant Berdugin was also awarded the Medal for Combat Service, 2.1.1944, and the Order of the Red Star. The Citation, dated 31.10.1944, states: ´During the fights on the 15-16 October 1944 in the area of Letskovo, Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic, Senior Sergeant Berdugin was at the post of observation to assist the operational department commander. He repeatedly replaced a signal officer at night and timely delivered headquarters´ orders to the field units, thus contributing to prompt execution of manoeuvres and facilitating the success of the operation. During the fights in the area of the village of Simintitti, Latvian Republic, on the 28 October 1944, Comrade Berdugin successfully executed an order of the command: under the cover of night he led a group of fighters who had lost orientation. When engaged by the enemy Comrade Berdugin personally directed the fight thus ensuring the execution of the task given to the group to cover the flank of the unit. Comrade Berdugin deserves to be awarded with the Order of the Red Star for his courage, resourcefulness, and initiative displayed in fight.´
