Oakleaf (24088979 Cpl S P Harding-Dempster Para), minor edge nick, therefore nearly extremely fine, with the recipient´s Mentioned in Despatches Certificate, dated 11.10.1982 and a telegram to the recipient from the Colonel of the Regiment, H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, dated 8.10.1982, these both mounted in a glazed frame Estimate £ 1,800-2,200 M.I.D. London Gazette 8.11.1982 24088979 Lance Corporal (Acting Corporal) Stephen Paul Harding-Dempster, The Parachute Regiment ´In recognition of gallant and distinguished service during the operations in the South Atlantic.´ 24088979 Lance Corporal Stephen Paul Harding-Dempster, enlisted in the Parachute Regiment with Junior Para in 1965, aged 15; his father ´Chick´ Dempster was also in the Regiment, and they became the first father and son pair in the history of the Regiment to jump from the same aircraft, 24.2.1968. Served with the Regiment in Cyprus and Northern Ireland (entitled to United Nations medal for Cyprus and General Service Medal 1962-2007 with clasp for Northern Ireland). Served with 3 Para during the Falklands Campaign, and present during the final push on Stanley, which involved the assaults on Mounts Harriet, Longdon, Tumbledown, and Wireless Ridge, 11th-13th June 1982; the objectives all taken, the Argentines surrendered the next day; for his part in the Battle of Mount Longdon Harding-Dempster was Mentioned-in-Despatches; Sergeant Ian McKay, 3 Para, was awarded the Victoria Cross for the same action.
