North Borneo 1939 Pictorial Issue The following twenty-eight lots are from the David Hubbard collection Die Proofs in Black 1c. to $5 set of fourteen (no 8c.) frames and the companion set of thirteen vignettes (no 8c. and just one die of the Arms common to the $1 and $2) from the Waterlow index volumes, each showing die and roller number and each with manuscript "Cancelled" in red ink, the vignette dies affixed to a single piece of card (200x74mm.); some of the vignettes soiled at foot though a unique group with no "fine" examples in the archive. Photo Estimate £ 6,000-8,000 Note: Die numbered "16211" is recorded in the index volume as being allocated to this issue. It is almost certain that this must have been used for the mono-coloured 8c. Die number "16269" allocated to this issue was additionally endorsed "This die was not made"
