Bermuda 1874 Three Pence Provisionals "three pence" in fancy italic capitals with plain "p" in "pence" "three pence" on 1/- green pair with 1865 1d. rose-red lightly cancelled and tied on 1874 (4 June) envelope (repaired tear across upper left corner), complete with long letter, from Major Stuart at Hamilton to his wife in England, marked "Via New York", showing fine "hamilton/bermuda" c.d.s. with "paid/liverpool/us packet/5a" d.s. in red alongside and, on reverse, clear Gosport arrival d.s. (22.6). The letter discusses the post, the loss of H.M.S. "Niobe" and his stomach pains through drinking porter.
