Bermuda 1865-1903 Watermark Crown CC Covers 1865 (28 Sept.) envelope to London, marked "Via Halifax", bearing 1/- green tied by fine "2" horizontal barred oval, showing "bermuda/h/paid" and arrival (21.10) datestamps, both in red (the former is the only recorded example in red used as a datestamp); the envelope with flap missing. Neat, attractive and an early date of use, just 3 days after the day of issue. Photo Estimate £ 3,500-4,500 Note: According to Ludington this is one of the few covers not marked "11d" in red.
