Somaliland 1901-04, The Somaliland Campaigns Four expeditions had to be instituted against the "Mad Mullah" and his followers who were spreading death and destruction against the peaceful Somali. Indian stamps were used on correspondence Third Expedition, October 1902 - June 1903 1903 (25 Apr.) letter from Lord Cromer, British Agent and Consul-General in Egypt, to Lady Talbot, wife of General Officer Commanding British troops in Egypt, stating that General Manning, Commander of the 3rd Expedition, has relieved Colonel Cobbe (Colonel A.S. Cobbe, VC, DSO, Commanding 1st King´s African Rifles and the Expedition´s "Flying Column") and totally defeated the Mullah who lost 2,000 men. Estimate £ 50-70
