Auction: 7024 - Banknotes of the World
Lot: 1209
Spain, La Caxa de Consolidacion de Vales Reales, 100 Reales De Vellon, Law of 17 July 1799, issued 1808-1813. serial number 195, with embossed head of Joseph Napoleon. A spectacular note, from the second paper money issuer of Spain, (the first being the Banco Nacional De San Carlos, founded in 1782 and issuing in 1783 and 1798). The design follows the basic style of the earlier notes, though far more elaborate. In addition to the three hand signatures there are two embossed seals, one with the coinage bust of Joseph Napoleon and his full titles, the other with monogram and symbols. This bank is not recorded by Ruiz- Alentorn, and the note is presumed to be the only surviving example of this issue.
(P.), The note has been quarterfolded and is worn along the folds on the back, however the designs and seals are very fresh and extremely fine in appearance. Of the highest rarity and importance.
