The Commonwealth (1649-1660), Crown, 29.48g, 1652, m.m. sun, shield within wreath, rev. conjoined shields, nine strings to harp, date above (ESC.4; N.2721; S.3214), pleasing tone, roundly struck, double struck in places, good very fine Estimate £ 1,600-2,000 provenance Bought Spink, 1 December 1944 With distinctive old ticket, possibly Maish (see BNJ71, p148 and plate 24), but no 1652 Crown was included in the Maish sale in 1918. Ticket indicates that the source of this coin as W.C.Pearson, 1876.
