Royal Naval School Camberwell, 1833, specimen striking in bronze, palmam qui meruit ferata classical group of a tutor pouring oil into a lamp held by a student, another student seated, signed w.wyon low right, date mdcccxxxiii in exergue, rev. inscription in six lines within wreath, 48mm., extremley fine, rare Estimate £ 80-100 The Royal Naval School in Camberwell was founded in 1833. The foundation stone for the new building on Counter Hill, Upper Lewisham Road, was laid by Prince Albert in 1843 on ´The Glorious First of June´, the anniversary of Lord Howe´s victory.
