Alexander II, 50th Anniversary of the Mikhailovskaya Artillery Academy and School, 1870, bronze medal by M. Kuchkin and V. Nikonov, head of Alexander II right, signed M.K. on truncation, rev. uniformed bust of Grand Duke Mikhael Pavlovich left, radiant cypher of Alexander I above, signed ´engraved by V. Nikonov´ on truncation, 86mm. (Diakov 769.1; Smirnov 696), minor marks and spots of discolouration both sides, good very fine Estimate £ 200-300 Russia´s oldest military training establishment opened on 26 November 1820. The Artillery Training School was granted the title Mikhailovskaya in honour of its founder and first General-Zeugmeister, Grand Duke Mikhael Pavlovich.
