Mathias, Senior Supt: Uganda Police); Coronation 1937, lacquered, light contact marks, very fine or better, mounted court style as originally worn (6) Estimate £ 500-550 C.P.M. for Meritorious Service London Gazette 10.61948 Cecil Afred Mathias, Senior Superintendent, Uganda Police Force Assistant Superintendent Cecil Alfred Mathias, born 1902; served with the Kenya Police, 5.3.1925-30.11.1932, before transferring to the Uganda Police, with whom he served between 1.12.1932-19.12.1952, attaining the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police; Mathias came out of retirement to join the Kenya Police during the Mau Mau Emergency and served as Assistant Superintendent, during the height of terrorist activity, in Nairobi, 1.1.1954-1.4.1957.
