Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R. (14568 A. Sgt: F.S. Starling. D. Bty: 93/Bde: R.F.A/), letter of unit partially officially corrected, very fine Estimate £ 350-400 D.C.M. London Gazette 15.4.1916 14568 Acting Sergeant F.S. Starling, "D" Bty., 93rd Bde., R.F.A., ´For conspicuous gallantry. Whilst a village was being heavily shelled, he volunteered to go and stop two teams about to enter the village. On reaching the team, shells were falling within 15 yards. He took charge of the teams, and through a shell swept area of 200 yards brought them back to safety. Later under heavy fire he went to the gun position with a stretcher and brought back a wounded man.´
