Corps (Wingate) 41051 Private John Robert Ord, M.M., born Wingate, Durham, 1891; enlisted as 20248 Private, 2nd Dragoon Guards, 1.9.1914; served in France from 17.10.1915; transferred 1st Squadron, Machine Gun Corps on its formation in 1 Cavalry Division, 28.2.1916; later transferred as 20139 Private, 13 Reserve Regiment of Cavalry; 20248 Private, 2 Reserve Regiment of Cavalry. Private Ord´s Military Medal was probably awarded for the Battles of St. Quentin, Bapaume, and Rosieres, March 1918.
