Newcastle M.R.), officially impressed in medium sans-serif capitals, extremely fine Estimate £ 1,000-1,500 Trooper W.H.J. Barnes was killed in action at the Battle of Isandhlwana, 22.1.1879. His original medal was returned to Woolwich, and the above medal was applied for and issued c.1920.
