Medals and Map relating to the Battle of Alma Crimea 1854-56, one clasp, Alma (Capt. Edwd. H.L. Crofton. 77th. Foot.), contemporarily engraved in Hunt and Roskill style large serif capitals, good very fine Crimea 1854-56, three clasps, Alma, Balaklava, Sebastopol (R. Clark. 42nd. Regt.), officially impressed, good very fine, mounted for display together with a large print map of the Battle of Alma, 450mm x 355mm, by John Arrowsmith, 10 Soho Square, with the British, French, Turk, and Russian positions during the Battle, 20th September 1854. (2) Estimate £ 800-900 Captain Edward Henry Lother Crofton; Commissioned Ensign, 77th (East Middlesex) Foot, May 1839; Promoted Lieutenant, November 1842; Captain, May 1845; proceeded with the Regiment to the Crimea on board the Australasian Pacific mail Company´s Screw Steam Ship H.T. Kangaroo, March 1854; present at the Battle of Alma, 20.9.1854; and the Action at McKenzie´s Farm, where the Regiment encountered a troop of Russians, 25.9.1854; the following day, which was his last, took part in the Capture of Balaklava Castle during the afternoon, struck down by Cholera in evening, and died during the night. Captain Crofton is buried on the Plain of Balaklava, and is commemorated in St. Paul´s Cathedral, London. 1550 Private Robert Clark is listed on the Rolls as ´Deceased 22.2.1855´ Clasps confirmed.
