Army of India 1799-1826, short hyphen reverse, one clasp, Ava (J.G. Meach, Ropemaker), officially impressed, light contact marks to obverse, otherwise good very fine, scarce Estimate £ 1,000-1,200 John G. Meach served as Ropemaker (the equivalent of Superior Petty Officer) in H.M.S. Tees during the Burma campaign, 1824-26. Approximately 13 ´Ava´ clasp awards to H.M.S. Tees, 3 to officers and 10 to other rates.
